9.E.a J <br />Chair's Report of the Public Safety, Military Affairs, and the Courts Policy Committee <br />Mayor Jerry Weiers, Chair <br />Resolutions Committee Meeting, League Annual Conference <br />Tuesday, August 21, 2018 <br />On May 15, 2018, the Public Safety, Military Affairs, and the Courts Policy Committee (PSMAC) <br />convened to discuss one policy issues submitted by a committee member for consideration. Below c <br />is a summary of the policy issue considered by PSMAC: o <br />o <br />r <br />O <br />y <br />Below is a summary of the committee discussion and the recommendations: Ce <br />a) <br />a <br />a) <br />The City of Glendale submitted Policy Issue 1 for consideration at the May 15 meeting. In 0 <br />preparation for that meeting League staff summarized the existing statutes that govern the State • • <br />Liquor Board (Board) including designated qualifications for several of the seats as well as the N <br />current members of the Board and their roles. At the meeting, the committee discussed various <br />instances where the Board disregarded a recommendation for disapproval from the local governing Y <br />body as well as other actions that the Board has taken that reflected a lack of awareness or concern <br />ca <br />for local input. The committee agreed that the League should pursue any and all avenues for a <br />improving the relationship between cities/towns and the Board, up to and including having a o <br />city/town elected official or staff member, or a League representative, appointed to the Board. c <br />0 <br />co <br />w <br />Ce <br />1.
