Funding coming <br />from 75% PUSD and 25% from the General Fund. <br />FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund, General Fund (Cost Recovered) <br />Approved By: Michael Lamar, City Manager <br />Item Summary <br />Approval of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the City of Prescott Police <br />Department and the Prescott Unified School District (PUSD) for the services of a School <br />Resource Officer (SRO) for the 2018-2019 school year. <br />Background <br />The City of Prescott Police Department requests approval to enter into an IGA with the <br />PUSD for School Resource Officer Services. <br />The partnership between the police department and the school district has been <br />ongoing in a cooperative effort to maintain safer schools, increase positive contacts <br />between police officers and students, and to provide ongoing and contemporary law <br />related education. <br />The School Resource Officer will be assigned primarily to the Prescott High School and <br />will provide services there for the duration of the school year through this IGA. The <br />assigned officer will support police department operations during school breaks through <br />the support services section and patrol section of the police department. <br />Financial Impact <br />The Prescott Unified School District has agreed to fund 75% of one sworn peace officer <br />position (approximately $66,000.00 annually) for the upcoming school year.
