COUNCIL AGENDA MEMO - 03/16/10 & 03/23/10 <br /> DEPARTMENT: Economic Development <br /> AGENDA ITEM: Prescott Area Arts and Humanities Council (PAAHC) <br /> Grant Recommendations <br /> Approved By: Date: <br /> 3/10/10 <br /> Department Head: Jane Bristol <br /> Finance Director: <br /> City Manager: Steve Norwood % Q,3/L/jam <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Prescott Area Arts and Humanities Council (PAAHC) were designated by City <br /> Council to review applications for grant awards for FY2010. <br /> A panel of PAAHC members met to review the grant applications, ranked them <br /> according to specific criteria, and submitted their recommendations for FY2010 funding. <br /> Attached is the organization's ranking and funding recommendation report for your <br /> review. Representatives from PAAHC will present these recommendations on March <br /> ti 16 and be available to answer any questions related to the process. <br /> FINANCIAL <br /> Funding for the arts is allocated as a percentage of transient occupancy (bed) taxes <br /> received in the prior year (FY2009). <br /> When the bed tax was increased to 3% in 2008, it was understood that various groups <br /> would receive a certain percentage from the Bed Tax Fund. The allocation for FY2010 <br /> is as follows: <br /> Organization % Allocation Orig. There have <br /> been some unplanned expenditures in this fund, most recently $10,000 for tourism <br /> consultant Bill Giest, and with nearly four months left in this fiscal year, further <br /> reductions may be necessary. <br />
