Agenda Item: Approval of submittal of a grant application to the Federal Aviation Administration <br /> in the amount of $380,000.00 for acquisition of a replacement Airport Rescue & Firefighting <br /> (ARFF) vehicle for Ernest A. Love Field/Prescott Municipal Airport <br /> with Council, the current ARFF vehicle will be kept for use as a training unit and for back-up <br /> ARFF coverage when the replacement vehicle may be taken out of service for preventative <br /> maintenance and/or repairs. <br /> The 2001 vehicle may also be used for specialized off-airport response to hazardous materials <br /> situations such as oil fires, electrical transformer substation fires, etc. requiring the specialized <br /> foam application capabilities of the ARFF vehicle without affecting airport ARFF services. <br /> Financial Impact <br /> The Airport budgeted $1,000,000.00 for the purchase of a replacement Index "B" ARFF <br /> vehicle in the FY15 CIP. It has been subsequently determined that a less expensive Category <br /> "A" vehicle will meet all FAA and Airport operational requirements. The total estimated cost of <br /> the Category "A" vehicle is $400,000.00. The FAA will provide up to $380,000.00 (95%) with <br /> ADOT providing a 2.5% matching grant in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 and the City <br /> providing the remaining 2.5% mating funds in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00.
