Prescott City Council Combined Study Session/ <br />Regular Voting Meeting — October 14, 2008 Page 8 <br />heating and as they were expecting a heat wave, they had held off on <br />starting up the heat. <br />Councilman Lamerson said that it looks like they have a health issue and <br />really do not have a choice. <br />COUNCILMAN LUZIUS MOVED TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF <br />ONE HVAC UNIT AND TWO HEATING UNITS FROM ENERGY <br />SAVINGS AND COOLING IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $21,510.00; <br />SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN LAMERSON; PASSED <br />UNANIMOUSLY. <br />C. Approval of reimbursement in the amount of $54,317.97 to the Adult <br />Center of Prescott, Inc. for audio-visual and security systems to the Rowle <br />P. Simmons Community Center. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Debbie Horton said that when the Adult <br />Center moved in to the new facility on Rosser Street, it was agreed that <br />the City would reimburse them 50% of the cost of audio-visual system <br />and one-third of the cost of the security system. This request is to <br />reimburse the Adult Center for those expenses. <br />COUNCILMAN LUZIUS MOVED TO APPROVE REIUMBURSEMENT IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $54,317.97 TO THE ADULT CENTER OF <br />PRESCOTT, INC. FOR AUDIO-VISUAL AND SECURITY SYSTEMS TO <br />THE ROWLE P. SIMMONS COMMUNITY CENTER; SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMAN LAMERSON; PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. <br />D. Approval to purchase two 2009 Honda ST1300P A9 Motorcycles with <br />emergency equipment from North Valley Motorsports, Inc., on the Arizona <br />Department of Public Safety State Contract #L5-024-002 for the amount <br />of $40,723.90. <br />Police Chief Randy Oaks said that the Police Department obtained a <br />quote for two police equipped motorcycles from North Valley Motorsports, <br />Inc. under the Arizona DPS contract #L5-024-002. He said that the two <br />motorcycles being replaced are from 2001 and will replace units currently <br />being used for training. He said that there is a safety component to this. <br />They currently have four of these types of cycles and have seven officers <br />on them. Three of the remaining cycles are Kawasaki that have not been <br />manufactured since 2005 as a PD cycle. They failed to make <br />modifications that others were doing to incorporate ABS systems, which is <br />a lifesaving system. He said that this was in the budget last year when the <br />vehicle funds were frozen and he would like to replace all three, but this <br />will replace at least two of them. <br />
